Lucky (Surinder Cheema), the current owner of the Copake General Store, was born in Punjab, India, and came to America in 1989.  He is a proud American citizen, married with 2 children, and lives in Hudson.  He purchased the store together with  Sudhir Sood in 2004.   Sood and his family managed the store until March of this year when he left the partnership.   Lucky is now the sole owner and new manager.  His previous experience is mainly in running gas station convenience stores.

Lucky is quite excited about the town people’s involvement in improving the store and hopes to learn first-hand how a genuine American country store operates and what items it should carry to attract and please customers. 

The store itself is currently run by Sunny, a friend also from Punjab, who was a restaurant owner in Hong Kong before coming to the United States.  He is the expert cook at the Copake General Store, creating delicious curry dishes and smoothies and other tempting treats.

The General Store will be employing local people to cover the various shifts.
